About K-Tips

What Are K-Tip Extensions?

K-Tips are individual strands of extension hair attached to your natural hair with small keratin bonds. They add length, fullness, or both, with placement customized to your hair and the way you like to wear it.

Will My Extensions Look Natural?

A natural blend starts with choosing the right texture, color, length, and amount of hair. Your installation is customized, then cut and styled to blend with your natural hair. The goal is for people to notice your hair without immediately noticing your extensions.

Will K-Tips Damage My Natural Hair?

No extension method is completely without risk. Suitability, bond sizing, placement, home care, and timely removal all matter. If your hair cannot comfortably support the installation you want, we will discuss a different approach. Extensions should never be worn past your recommended removal date.

Is It Right For You

What Are The Requirements?

Your natural hair should be shoulder length or longer when straightened, with full edges and enough coverage to conceal the bonds. Shorter areas around the sides, nape, and hairline are evaluated individually. Your hair should be strong enough to support extensions, and your scalp should be free of active irritation or concerns that could interfere with installation.

Do K-Tips Work On Textured Or Type 4 Hair?

K-Tips may be suitable for a range of textures, including type 4 hair. Your natural hair’s condition, density, length, and styling routine help determine whether they are the right fit. Texture matching is an important part of your consultation.

Can I Get K-Tips With Relaxed Or Color Treated Hair?

Possibly. Your hair’s strength and condition matter more than the service alone. Share any recent or planned relaxers, lightening, or color services during your consultation so we can determine appropriate timing.

Consultation, Pricing And Appointments

Do I Need A Consultation First?

Yes. Your phone consultation helps us discuss your goals, review your hair photos, and recommend a method and package. You will submit clear photos of the front, sides, and back of your natural hair, along with inspiration photos.

How Much Do K-Tips Cost?

Installations typically range from $3,650 to $6,000, depending on the method, length, and amount of hair needed. Your consultation will determine your recommended package and final price.

How Long Does The Appointment Take?

A full installation typically takes 6 to 9 hours. Timing depends on your hair, the method, and the amount being installed. Please plan your day accordingly so your appointment can be completed without rushing.

How Should I Arrive For My Appointment?

Arrive with your natural hair fully detangled and ready for shampooing. Existing extensions should be discussed in advance so removal can be scheduled if needed. Matted or excessively tangled hair is subject to a $75 per hour detangling fee.

Wear And Styling

How Long Do They Last?

K-Tips are generally worn for 3 to 6 months. Your recommended removal date depends on your natural hair, growth, shedding, and home care. We will discuss your timeline and reassess it during maintenance.

Can I Wash, Work Out, And Style My Hair?

Yes, with proper care. Follow your aftercare instructions, keep oils and conditioner away from the bonds, and dry your roots thoroughly after washing or heavy sweating. Avoid placing hot tools directly on the bonds.

Can I Wear Ponytails And Buns?

Placement can accommodate ponytails, buns, and other styles, depending on your natural coverage. Let us know your favorite hairstyles during your consultation. Very sleek styles, certain parts, and half up looks may have limitations, especially when the installation is fresh.

Maintenance And Removal

What Maintenance Should I Plan For?

Plan for a maintenance check around 6 weeks, along with professional wash and style appointments as recommended. At home, gentle brushing, separating the bonds as instructed, and keeping the roots and bonds thoroughly dry are essential.

Do K-Tips Get Moved Up?

K-Tips are not moved up like some other extension methods. Maintenance may include replacing or adding individual pieces, but a full refresh requires professional removal and a new installation.

How Are K-Tips Removed?

K-Tips require professional removal using a bond remover and tools designed for the process. Please do not pull, pick, or attempt to slide the bonds out yourself. Schedule removal according to your recommended timeline.
